Gary was born in Edinburgh and moved to Glasgow at the age of eighteen. After two years living in the ‘City of Culture’ he ventured down south to the sleepy town of St.Ives, Cambridgeshire and has remained in this part of the country ever since.

Gary’s native accent – surprise, surprise – is Scot’s, but has a natural ear for other accents.

Gary has been performing since the age of five, when he and his sister used to sing and do comedy sketches for neighbours in the ‘back garden’ of the Edinburgh tenement buildings where he grew up. Admission fee was a princely one penny.

He was acting in a children’s youth theatre from the age of seven when his first ever role was as ‘Oliver’ in the Lionel Bart musical.
